Continuing my Bible study in Isaiah, I found many interesting and beautiful passages. (NKJV)
The Importance of not just lip and outward service, but wholehearted service and faith: Isaiah 29
Isaiah 29:13-14: Therefore the Lord said: "Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men,
Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work Among this people, A marvelous work and a wonder; For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, And the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden."
The importance of trusting only in the Lord: Isaiah 30, 31
Isaiah 30:1-3: "Woe to the rebellious children," says the LORD, "Who take counsel, but not of Me, And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit, That they may add sin to sin;
Who walk to go down to Egypt, And have not asked My advice, To strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, And to trust in the shadow of Egypt!
Therefore the strength of Pharaoh Shall be your shame, And trust in the shadow of Egypt Shall be your humiliation.
Isaiah 31:1 :Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, And rely on horses, Who trust in chariots because they are many, And in horsemen because they are very strong, But who do not look to the Holy One of Israel, Nor seek the LORD!
Also in these chapters however, are passages showing God's continual mercy to Israel. (See Below)
God's Mercy and Justice: Isaiah 30, 31
Isaiah 30:18 : Therefore the LORD will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him.
Isaiah 31: 5b “... So will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem. Defending, He will also deliver it; Passing over, He will preserve it."
Opening of Eyes and Ears: Isaiah 6, 32
Isaiah 6:9 “ And He said, Go and tell this to the people. Keep on hearing but do not understand, keep on seeing but do not perceive.
Later on in this chapter Isaiah asks “Lord how long?” and is given this answer:
Isaiah 6:11b, 13 “...And He answered: "Until the cities are laid waste and without inhabitant, The houses are without a man, The land is utterly desolate.
But yet a tenth will be in it, And will return and be for consuming, As a terebinth tree or as an oak, Whose stump remains when it is cut down. So the holy seed shall be its stump."
In Isaiah 32 we see more of that promise, particularly beautiful when comparing it with Isaiah 6:9
Isaiah 32: 1-3 : Behold, a king will reign in righteousness, And princes will rule with justice.
A man will be as a hiding place from the wind, And a cover from the tempest, As rivers of water in a dry place, As the shadow of a great rock in a weary land. The eyes of those who see will not be dim, And the ears of those who hear will listen.
Thank you for Reading,
